Abstract
Herbicide as synthetic organic chemicals can be used to weeds control Soil organic matter content determines the behavior of herbicide including; bioactivity, persistance, biodegradability, leaching, and volatility. The fate and behaviour ofa herbicide in soil is governed by a variety of physical, chemical, and biological procces, which are often complex and dynamic. These include sorption-desorbtion,volatilisasi, chemical and biological degradation, plant uptake, surface runoff, and leaching.
The role of organic matters to degradation herbicide dependend on three factors which interact each other, i.e. (1) Soil properties, (2)pesticide properties, and (3) microorganism and the nature of organic matter. Soil organic matter in the soil, which influence movement, availability and adsorbtion and biodegradation of herbicide in the soil, also effect their uptake and transport.
