Abstract

This article shows that the model of tourism development in the border Sota is based on two main pillars of Eco Tourism and Culture Tourism. To realize the main pillars need to be supported by four pillars: community empowerment through cooperation between local governments, non-governmental organizations or universities and traditional leaders or religious leaders, developing the tourist supporting infrastructures, local government policies that support border tourism, as well as the integrative promotion. This Model is based on the presence of potential border tourism and the potential problems in the management of borders lie within the region. Potential factors include the potential related to the specific geographic and demographic conditions in sota border region. The potential problems include the response of the local community who do not support the development of tourism, there is not Master Plan of Border Tourism Development, the sectoral management of border areas, non integrated promotion and inadequate the supporting infrastructure in border area.
