Abstract

ABSTRACT
Food security is a strategic part in national security. As an agrarian country,Indonesian government place a high priority for national food security development based on the principle of food independence. One of the constraints for food diversification by the Indonesian government is narrowness of the development land. Special region of Yogyakarta south coast is potential for agriculture business if using the right technology. Using the stable variety of plant for sandy land (dry land) and physically and chemically engineering combine with dung are innovative technology which can solve sandy land problem. The purpose of this research is to establish the right variety and dung dose for the growth and result of sweet potato in sandy land. The research will be held on May until November 2014 in Ngepet, Srigading Village,Bantul, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The experiment will be stacked factorial 4 x 5
using Split Plot Design. Factor I (main plot) contained 4 kinds of variety (Kidal, Sari,Papua Solosa, and local). Factor II (sub plot) contained 5 doses of dung (0, 20, 25, 50,and 35 tons/ha). The result of the research showed that the given dung dose has not yet showed the significant difference on the corm.The local variety resulted better corm compared to Kidal, Sari, and Papua Solosa. In sandy land, Papua Soloa variety give the lowest result.
