Abstract

Urban farming is an agricultural activity for narrow space use in the urban area that has many
benefits, e.g. as food provider at the household family level. Urban farming ability to fulfill food
needs makes it as a foundation for regional food security. In addition, Urban farming also an
implementation of Private Green Open Space availability regulation in residential areas. Urban
farming is carried out with several participatory approaches and the active role of local
communities. Urban farming in Jlagran RT 14 village is carried out in three types of land for
farming, i.e.: home yard (26,09m2), house wall (49,95 m2), and river bank (10 m) by using three
types of planting media, i.e.: polybag (100 pieces), wall planter (56 pockets), and hanging
bottle (16 chains). The types of plants grown are vegetable crops, i.e.: Chili, mustard, tomatoes,
eggplant, celery, beans, and spinach. The final results of Urban farming food production are
expected to reach 10.5 kg chili, 4.7 kg mustard, 20 kg tomatoes, 20 kg eggplant, 3.7 kg celery,
7.5 kg beans, and 4.1 kg spinach.
