Abstract

ABSTRACT
Nickel mining is using open pit and selective mining method. Target ore production in the form of saprolite ore is
50,000 tons/month. This study aims to gain mine sequance for 5 months, haul road geometry and waste dump
progress.
The research methodology includes literature study activities. Then continued with field observations and data
collection. The data obtained is then processed and analyzed so that a conclusion is obtained regarding the
sequance of the mine.
The results of the research include the design of mine progress to achieve production target by classifying nickel
ore based on its grade so that material volume can be identified, the area that excavated, the difference in
elevation based on the sequance, and the direction of mine sequance; The mine haul road is design by using the
appropriate geometry to be traversed by the articulated dump truck Bell B45E and Volvo A40, namely the
minimum road width on the straight track is 14 meters and on the turning track is 27 meters, the minimum bend
radius is 9.6 meters, the superelevation is 0.05 mm/m , cross slope of 40 mm/m, and road slope/maximum level of
14% and adjusts to topography; The waste dump design is carried out using the trial and error method so that
the calculation results can be used as a volume dump designing is using trial and error method. The planned
waste dump activities are using valley dump method by continuing the existing waste dump at altitude of 347
meter above sea level.
