ABSTRAK
Game online mengalami perkembangan yang cukup pesat, tidak sedikit game
online yang dapat diunduh dengan mudah smartphone. Dari banyaknya jenis
game online, yang paling popular dan digemari berbagai kalangan ialah Mobile
Legends: Bang Bang atau biasa dikenal dengan istilah MLBB. Game online
memunculkan perilaku toxic atau dikenal dengan toxic behavior yang dialami para
pemain. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa fenomena toxic behavior pada
game online Mobile Legend Bang-Bang, mengetahui pemaknaan perilaku toxic
pada pemain, dan mengetahui faktor yang mempengaruhi pemaknaan dari
fenomena perilaku toxic dalam komunikasi virtual pemain MLBB terhadap
pemain lainnya. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori fenomenologi. Penelitian ini
menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan fenomenologi dan teknik
pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian
menunjukkan bahwa 5 dari informan yang diwawancara mengaku pernah
mendapatkan toxic behavior namun masing-masing memiliki pemaknaan yang
berbeda-beda. Dari 5 informan, 2 informan memaknai fenomena toxic behavior
dalam komunikasi virtual ini dengan emosi dan 2 informan ini merasa terganggu
akibat adanya perilaku toxic ini. Sedangkan, 3 informan dalam penelitian ini,
memaknai toxic behavior ini dengan biasa saja, karena menurut mereka
menanggapi pemain yang melakukan perkataan toxic akan membuang waktu
mereka dan dapat mengganggu jalannya pertandingan. Walaupun toxic behavior
merupakan perilaku yang buruk namun perilaku ini dapat dihindari dengan
melakukan komunikasi yang baik antar pemain dan meningkatkan sikap
sportivitas.

ABSTRACT
Online games have developed quite rapidly, not a few online games that can be
downloaded easily smartphone. Of the many types of online games, the most
popular and popular among various circles is Mobile Legends: Bang Bang or
commonly known as MLBB. Online games lead to toxic behavior or known as
toxic behavior experienced by players. This study aims to analyze the
phenomenon of toxic behavior in the online Game Mobile Legend Bang-Bang,
know the meaning of toxic behavior in players, and know the factors that
influence the meaning of the phenomenon of toxic behavior in virtual
communication MLBB players against other players. This research uses
phenomenological theory. This study uses qualitative methods with
phenomenological approach and data collection techniques using interviews and
documentation. The results showed that 5 of the informants interviewed claimed
to have had toxic behavior but each has a different meaning. Of the 5 informants,
2 informants interpret the phenomenon of toxic behavior in this virtual
communication with emotions and 2 of these informants feel disturbed due to this
toxic behavior. Meanwhile, 3 informants in this study, interpret this toxic behavior
normally, because they think responding to players who say toxic words will
waste their time and can disrupt the course of the game. Although toxic behavior
is bad behavior, this behavior can be avoided by good communication between
players and improving sportsmanship.
