Abstract

This paper describes the background of the entry of Singapore into a member of the Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB). Based on research conducted there were two factors that led to Singapore entered the IFSB, the first, the Singapore desire to become the International Islamic Financial Hub. This goal is not too difficult to be achieved by Singapore, as Singapore had previously been the center of economic and finance (conventional) in the world and Asia. The second factor is the desire to attract investors, especially from the Middle East. This desire is something that is reasonable, because at the same time there has been a withdrawal substantial investment from the United States and Europe by the middle east investors and will be invested in its own region and Asia. Withdrawal of investment funds as a result of economic and financial conditions in the United States and Europe. This condition is characterized by the weakening of the financial markets in the United States and Europe as well as the supervision of the authorities and financial market participants against the possibility of investment associated with terrorism
