HARAPAN GENERASI S4 TANAMAN JAGUNG MANIS

ABSTRAK
Produksi jagung manis belum mampu mencukupi permintaan dikarenakan
masih kurangnya varietas unggul jagung manis. Perakitan varietas unggul
dilakukan melalui seleksi berdasarkan nilai heritabilitas dan kemajuan genetik
sehingga diperoleh galur murni. Tujuan penelitian ini yaitu untuk meduga nilai
heritabilitas, kemajuan genetik harapan tanaman jagung manis dan menentukan
galur yang memiliki potensi genetik untuk dilanjutkan ke generasi selanjutnya.
Heritabilitas adalah perbandingan antara faktor genetik dan faktor lingkungan
dalam memberikan penampakan fenotipe suatu karakter tanaman. Kemajuan
genetik adalah selisih antara nilai tengah turunan hasil seleksi dengan nilai tengah
populasi yang diseleksi. Percobaan lapangan yang digunakan yaitu Rancangan
Acak Kelompok Lengkap (RAKL) dengan 10 perlakuan 3 kali ulangan. Perlakuan
galur yang digunakan yaitu KD1-2, KD1-4, KD1-5, KD1-6, KD1-7, KD1-8, KD1-
9, KD2-1, KD2-4, KD2-5. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan
analisis varian (ANOVA), kemudian dilakukan analisis heritabilitas dalam arti luas
(h

bs), dan kemajuan genetik harapan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai
heritabilitas tinggi pada karakter diameter tongkol. Nilai kemajuan genetik harapan
tinggi pada karakter bobot tongkol tanpa kelobot. Galur yang memiliki potensi
genetik untuk dilanjutkan ke generasi selanjutnya yaitu galur KD1-6.

ESTIMATION OF HERITABILITY VALUE AND GENETIC ADVANCE
FOR S4 GENERATION OF SWEET CORN (Zea mays saccharata)

ABSTRACT
Sweet corn production has not been able to meet demand due to the lack
of superior sweet corn varieties. The assembly of superior varieties was carried out
through selection based on heritability values and genetic advance to obtain pure
lines. This study aimed to estimate the heritability value, the genetic advance of the
sweet corn and determine the progenies that have the genetic potential to be passed
on to the next generation. Heritability is a comparison between genetic factors and
environmental factors in giving the appearance of the phenotype of a plant
character. Genetic advance is the difference between the mean value of the selected
offspring and the mean value of the selected population. The field experiment used
was Completely Randomized Block Design (CRBD) with 10 treatments and 3
replications. The treatment lines used KD1-2, KD1-4, KD1-5, KD1-6, KD1-7,
KD1-8, KD1-9, KD2-1, KD2-4, KD2-5 progenies.The data obtained were analyzed
using analysis of variance (ANOVA), then analyzed for heritability in the broad
sense (h
2
bs), and expected genetic advance. The results showed that the heritability
value was high on the cob diameter character. The value of genetic advance is high
on the character of the weight of the cob without shells. The line that has the genetic
potential to be passed on to the next generation is the KD1-6 progenies.
