ABSTRAK
Qatar telah mengalami krisis diplomatik setelah pemutusan hubungan diplomatik oleh
Arab Saudi pada tahun 2017. Tidak hanya Arab Saudi, tiga negara Teluk lainnya, seperti Uni
Emirat Arab, Bahrain dan Mesir juga turut serta memutuskan hubungan diplomatik dengan
Qatar. Pemutusan hubungan diplomatik tersebut dilakukan atas dasar tuduhan terhadap Qatar
yang dianggap mendukung dan membiayai kelompok teroris di Kawasan Timur Tengah. Arab
Saudi dan tiga negara Teluk lainnya melakukan embargo ekonomi dengan memblokade jalur
perdagangan darat, udara dan laut yang menuju Qatar. Embargo tersebut telah menyebabkan
Qatar mengalami kerawanan pangan, penurunan PDB negara serta berimplikasi pada politik dan
sosialnya. Qatar pun berupaya untuk bangkit dari krisis diplomatik yang melanda negaranya
dengan memberlakukan kebijakan independen untuk lepas dari pengaruh Arab Saudi. Qatar
memanfaatkan kondisi geografisnya yang strategis di Kawasan Timur Tengah untuk mengatasi
krisis diplomatiknya. Melalui konsep geopolitik, dapat dianalisis berbagai strategi yang
dijalankan oleh Qatar sehingga berhasil keluar dari krisisnya. Salah satu strategi Qatar adalah
melakukan swasembada pangan untuk memenuhi kebutuhan pangan negaranya yang hilang
akibat dari blokade.

OVERVIEW OF GEOPOLITICAL CONCEPTS

ABSTRACT
Qatar has experienced a diplomatic crisis after the severance of diplomatic relations by
Saudi Arabia in 2017. Not only Saudi Arabia, three other Gulf countries, such as the United
Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt also cut diplomatic ties with Qatar. The severance of
diplomatic relations was implemented on the basis of accusations to Qatar for supporting and
financing terrorist groups in the Middle East Region. Saudi Arabia and three other Gulf
countries imposed an economic embargo by blocking land, air and sea trade routes leading to
Qatar. The embargo has caused Qatar to experience food insecurity, reduction in country GDP
and its political and social implications. Qatar is also trying to rise from the diplomatic crisis
that hit the country by execute an independent policy to escape the influence of Saudi Arabia.
Qatar takes advantage of its strategist geographical condition in the Middle East Region to
overcome its diplomatic crisis. Through the concept of geopolitics, it can be analyzed the various
strategies that carried out by Qatar so it can get out of its crisis. One of Qatar's strategies is to
be self-sufficient in food to fulfill the country's food needs that were lost as a result of the
blockade.
