Abstract

PT. Meares Soputan Mining merupakan perusahaan yang bergerak di bidang penambangan bijih emas. Sistem penambangan yang diterapkan PT. Meares Soputan Mining adalah tambang terbuka. Setiap penambangan bijih emas akan selalu juga dijumpai material waste, oleh karena itu perlu disediakan suatu lahan sebagai tempat penimbunan material waste tersebut dan tempat penimbunan material waste ini sering disebut dengan waste dump. Agar lahan timbunan material waste ini tidak mudah terkena erosi dan dapat berfungsi kembali secara optimal maka perlu dilakukan kegiatan pengendalian erosi di daerah tersebut. Pada pengamatan yang dilakukan di lapangan, masih dijumpai sejumlah kecil gejala yang menunjukkan adanya erosi-erosi lembar dan alur akibat limpasan air serta tidak dijumpainya saluran-saluran pembuangan air yang memadai. Perhitungan laju erosi dan tingkat bahaya erosi menggunakan persamaan USLE ( Universal Soil Loss Equation). Faktor yang mempengaruhi laju erosi tersebut antara lain faktor erosivitas hujan (R) , faktor erodibilitas tanah (K), faktor panjang dan kemiringan lereng (LS), faktor pengelolaan tanaman penutup lahan dan manajemen tanaman (C) dan faktor tindakan konservasi tanah (P). Berdasarkan hasil perhitungan, didapatkan nilai faktor R = 360,122 KJ/ha; faktor K = 0,24 ; faktor LS = 5,9068 ; faktor C = 0,5 ; faktor P = 0,15 sehingga besarnya laju erosi awal di daerah penelitian sebelum dilakukan perbaikan kondisi teras bangku adalah sebesar 38,289 ton / ha / tahun dan termasuk kategori tingkat bahaya erosi berat. Setelah dilakukan perbaikan kondisi teras bangku yaitu dengan merancang saluran-saluran pembuangan air yang memadai, maka didapatkan nilai faktor P = 0,04 sehingga besarnya laju erosi di daerah penelitian menurun menjadi 10,21 ton / ha / tahun dengan tingkat bahaya erosi kategori sedang. PT. Meares Soputan Mining is a mining gold ore company. The mining system applied by PT. Meares Soputan Mining is an open pit mining system. In any gold ore mining activities, waste material will be always found. Therefore, it is necessary to provide a land as the waste material stockpiles and this stockpiles of waste material is often referred to as waste dump. In order to prevent this waste dump from erosion and to be able to function optimally, it is necessary to plan the erosion and sediment control program in this area. As the result of the field observation, it is still found a small number of symptoms that indicate the presence of the sheet and reel erosion caused by runoff water besides there isn’t any adequate water drainage ditch at this waste dump yet. To estimate the rate of erosion or soil loss and to determine the soil erosion class uses the mathematical model of equation USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation). Five major factors are used to calculate the soil loss rate. Those factors affecting the rate of erosion are factors rainfall and runoff factor (R), soil erodibility factor (K), the slope lenght and gradient factor (LS), crop/vegetation and management factors (C) and the support practices factor (P) . Based on calculations, it is obtained that the value of the R factor = 360.122 KJ / ha; K factor = 0.24; LS factor = 5.9068; C factor = 0.5; P factor = 0.15 so the initial soil loss erosion rate in this waste dump before the improvement of the bench terraces conditions is 38.289 tonnes / ha / year and this is considered as a severe level of the soil erosion class. After the bench terraced condition improvement by designing an adequate water drainage ditch, the obtained value of factor P is 0.04 so the soil loss erosion rate in this waste dump is decreased to 10.21 tonnes / ha / year and this is considered as a moderate level of the soil erosion class
