Abstract

Semarang Urban arem; are underlined by terl:iary rock ofsandstone and plastic mudstone. Those tertiary rock . are overlaid unconjrJrmly by classic sediment of Old Ungaran Volomo deposited in the late Pleistocene (22.150 yetlTs old). Fault andjoint structure occurrence thaJ is involving those volcanic classic rock and river terrace reaching 75 m above river bed indialte that tilt Semarang Urban Areas have been experiencing neo-tectonic. The tectonic activity hils uplijl£d the sou~ hilly arta ofBanyunumik Mijen hills with avera8f! uplift rate of 0.4 an/yeJU. On the contrary, subsidence hils ~ f41cing place within the north part of Semtlrlmg Urban fITtIlS follmotd by consolidation and compaction of young sediment matnial. The subsidence rate is predicted at about 3-10 cm/yeur. The tectonic process that azused uplift at southern tmd subsidence at northern part is contro/kd by N~st - Southeast foult structure. Thost! geological setting has bringing about soil cnep and landslide hazard in the hiUy areas and tideflood (rob) in tilt nmh areas •.
