Abstrak
Tanaman jagung manis (Zea mays saccharata L) termasuk bahan pangan utama
kedua setelah beras. Berbagai jenis varietas jagung manis salah satunya adalah
varietas jagung manis Sweet Boy, jenis varietas jagung manis yang satu ini
memiliki pertumbuhan yang sangat baik. Jenis varietas Talenta, jenis varietas ini
memiliki rasa yang kurang manis, karena kadar gula yang dihasilkan dari buah
jagung manis ini tidak terlalu banyak. Chitosan adalah senyawa organik turunan
kitin, berasal dari biomaterial kitin yang dapat digunakan sebagai zat pemacu
pertumbuhan tanaman, biopestisida alami untuk melindungi tanaman dari serangan
bakteri maupun jamur, dan sebagai bahan pelapis pada berbagai benih tanaman.
Tempat penelitian dilaksanakan di lahan yang terletak di Wukirsari, Sleman,
Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta pada bulan September 2020 hingga November 2020.
Percobaan menggunakan Splitplot dengan 10 perlakuan. Faktor pertama main plot
Varietas jagung manis Sweet Boy dan Varietas Talenta serta faktor kedua sub plot
konsentrasi Chitosan 0 ppm (kontrol), 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm dan 400 ppm
yang diulang sebanyak 3 kali. Data pengamatan dianalisis secara statistik
menggunakan uji Analysis of Varians ( ANOVA ) pada jenjang nyata 5% dan diuji
lanjut dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) pada taraf
5%. Hasil percobaan menunjukkan tidak adanya interaksi antara Varietas Jagung
Manis dan Konsentrasi Chitosan pada semua parameter pengamatan meliputi 0
ppm (K0), 100 ppm (K1), 200 ppm (K2), 300 ppm (K3) dan 400 ppm (K4). Varietas
Sweet Boy menunjukkan pertumbuhan dan hasil yang lebih baik daripada Varietas
Talenta pada perlakuan pemberian konsentrasi Chitosan 300 ppm (K3).

Abstract
Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata, L) is the second main food ingredient after rice.
Various types of sweet corn varieties such as Sweet Boy sweet corn varieties, this
type of sweet corn variety has a sweet taste and also has very good growth. Talenta
variety, this variety has a less sweet taste, because the sugar content produced from
this sweet corn fruit is not too much. Chitosan is an organic compound derived from
chitin, derived from chitin biomaterial which can be used as a plant growth
promoter, a natural biopesticide to protect plants from bacterial and fungal attacks,
and as a coating material for various plant seeds. The research site was carried out
on land located in Wukirsari, Sleman, Yogyakarta Special Region from September
2020 to November 2020. The experiment used a Splitplot with 10 treatments. The
first factor was the main plot of Sweet Boy Sweet Corn Varieties and Talents
Varieties and the second factor was the Chitosan concentration sub plot of 0 ppm
(control), 100 ppm, 200 ppm, 300 ppm and 400 ppm which was repeated 3 times.
Observational data were analyzed statistically using the Analysis of Variance
(ANOVA) test at the 5% real level and further tested with Duncan's Multiple Range
Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The experimental results showed that there was no
interaction between Sweet Corn Varieties and Chitosan Concentration on all
observation parameters including 0 ppm (K0), 100 ppm (K1), 200 ppm (K2), 300
ppm (K3) and 400 ppm (K4). The Sweet Boy variety showed better growth and
yields than the Talenta variety in the treatment of 300 ppm (K3) Chitosan
concentration.
