Abstract
ABSTRAK Skripsi ini menjelaskan tentang latar belakang kemenangan Partai Konservatif dalam pemilu Inggris tahun 2019 sehingga membawa ketua partainya yaitu Boris Johnson menjadi seorang Perdana Menteri Inggris tahun 2019. Pemilihan Perdana Menteri Inggris dilakukan melalui pemilu pada masing-masing daerah pemilihan yang memenangkan satu nama dengan satu partai yang akan menduduki parlemen lokal. Terdapat 650 daerah pemilihan, hasil akhirnya partai yang berhasil mendapat mayoritas suara yaitu sekurang-kurangnya 326 suara ketua partainya akan menjadi Perdana Menteri Inggris. Fokus penelitian ini adalah faktor-faktor apa saja yang mendukung kemenangan partai Konservatif ini mengingat ketua Partai Konservatif sudah mengundurkan diri dari jabatan Perdana Menteri Inggris sebanyak dua kali yaitu pada tahun 2017 dan 2019. Selain itu isu adanya isu moralitas personal ketua partai Konservatif menjadikan ia sosok yang kurang pantas menjadikan pemimpin Inggris. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui studi kepustakaan seperti website, jurnal, dan dokumen. Hasil dari penelitian ini memperlihatkan faktor yang mendukung atas kemenangan partai Konservatif yaitu keberhasilan Johnson dalam mengolah serta merespon isu yang sedang dihadapi oleh masyarakat yaitu isu Brexit, isu kesehatan, dan isu kejahatan. Selain itu partai Konservatif juga memiliki pemilih setia yang berasal dari kelas menengah. Keberhasilan Johnson dalam menyampaikan kebijakan yang ditawarkan pada isu utama Brexit juga mendapat perhatian dari pemilih kelas pekerja sehingga kelas ini juga memilih partai Konservatif. Kata Kunci : Inggris, Konservatif, Boris Johnson, Brexit, Pemilih Kelas Menengah ABSTRACT This thesis explains and discusses the background of the Conservative Party's win in the 2019 British election so as to bring the chairman of his party, namely Boris Johnson, to be the Prime Minister of the UK in 2019. The British general election is carried out through elections in each constituency to vote it’s the local parliament. There are 650 constituencies, the result is that the party that get a majority of the votes, which is at least 326 votes, so the chairman of his party will become the Prime Minister of the UK. The focus of this research is on what factors support the Conservative party's win, considering that the chairman of the Conservative Party has resigned from the position of Prime Minister of the UK twice, at 2017 and 2019. In addition, the personal morality issue of the Conservative party leader makes him a prominent figure who does not deserve to be the leader of UK. This study uses qualitative methods with data collection techniques through library research such as websites, journals, and documents. The results of this research show that the factors that support the Conservative party's win are Johnson's success in processing and responding the issues being faced by society such as Brexit issues, health issues, and crime issues. Conservative party also has loyal voters who come from the middle class. Johnson's success in conveying the policies offered on the main issue of Brexit also received the votes of working class, so that this class also voted for the Conservative party.
