Abstract
East Java Basin is one of the basin known for its large oil and gas resources in
Indonesia. The Tuban Formation is a formation that is profilically productive in the
East Java Basin. The exploitation phase in AA Field requires a field development
design process that includes geological, geophysical and reservoir studies. The
limited data on the AA field raises challenges in determining drilling targets related
to the property distribution of the statistical model, especially the parameters of
porosity and water saturation. This study aims to characterize the subsurface
property based on petrophysical analysis and seismic inversion and its implications
for the distribution of pore-volume hydrocarbon (HCPV).
The method used in this study uses a petrophysical calculation approach and
geophysical modeling. The used etrophysical calculations are the calculation of
Vshale, total porosity, and water saturation to quantitatively measure the reservoir.
Geophysical modeling uses seismic inversion to obtain acoustic impedance values
horizontally and laterally. The calculations and modeling are then correlated to
obtain the value of the petrophysical distribution in the reservoir.
The results of this study are a map of the distribution of acoustic impedance,
porosity, and water saturation. The values from the acoustic impedance map range
from 30000-46000 ((ft / s) * (g / cc)). High values of more than 37000 ((ft / s) * (g
/ cc)) are interpreted as tight carbonates while rocks having values less than 34000
((ft / s) * (g / cc)) are interpreted as porous carbonates. The value of the porosity
map has a value range of 0.1-0.25 v / v and the iso-saturation map has a range of
0.1 - 0.8 v / v. AA field has an HCPV of 343 × 106 bbl with a dominant direction
spreading to the west of the map which is the target of further development drilling.
