Abstract

Daerah penelitian secara administratif terletak di wilayah Kecamatan Nanggulan
dan Girimulyo, Kabupaten Kulon Progo, Provinsi D.I.Yogyakarta. Daerah penelitian
secara geografis terletak pada koordinat 7°40’45”LS - 7°45’40”LS dan 110°11’00”BT -
110°13’15” dengan skala 1:20.000 dan luasan daerah penelitian 5 x 6 Km. Aspek
geologi dan provenan batupasir akan menjadi objek telitian yang diangkat pada skripsi
ini. Metodologi penelitian yang digunakan terdiri dari empattahap yaitu tahap
pendahuluan, tahap pelaksanaan lapangan, tahap analisa datadan tahap sintesa.
Geomorfologi daerah penelitiandibedakan menjadi dua satuan bentuk asal, yaitu bentuk
asal denudasional dengan bentuk lahan berupa perbukitan terkikis (D1) dan bukit
terisolir (D2), serta bentuk asal fluvial dengan bentuk lahan berupa lembah aluvial (F1),
tubuh sungai (F2), dataran banjir (F3) dan gosong sungai (F4). Berdasarkan ciri litologi,
stratigrafi daerah penelitian dibagi menjadi empat satuan batuan dengan urutan dari yang
paling tua ke muda adalah Satuan batupasir Nanggulan (Eosen Tengah-Oligosen Awal),
Satuan breksi monomik Kaligesing (Oligosen Tengah – Oligosen Akhir), Satuan
batugamping Jonggrangan (Miosen Awal – Miosen Tengah), dan Satuan endapan aluvial
(Holosen). Terdapat juga Satuan litodemik Intrusi andesit Kalisonggo (Oligosen Akhir).
Struktur geologi pada daerah penelitian terdiri dari sesar mendatar kiri Turusan 1 jenis
normal left slip fault (Rickard,1972) dan lipatan antiklin Nanggulan jenis Upright
Horizontal Fold(Fluety,1964).
Berdasarkan analisa petrografi dan perhitungan butiran terhadap batupasir pada
satuan batupasir Nanggulan,didapatkan paleoiklim dari batupasir Nanggulan adalah
beriklim lembab (Humid), dengan batuan sumber berupa batuan beku asam (Granit)
serta mempunyai tatanan tektonikyang berada pada zona continental block , sub-zona
craton interior dan transitional continental dan pada zona recycled orogen, sub-zona
foreland uplift.

Administratively, the studied area is located at the region of Nanggulan and
Girimulyo district, Kulon Progo regency, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta Province. It’s
precisely located on 7°40’45”SL - 7°45’40”SL and 110°11’00”EL - 110°13’15”EL with
a scale 1:20.000 and wide are 5 x 6 Km2. The thesis emphasizes the effort to
understanding geological aspect and provenance of sandstone aspect which became the
main concern of it. The research methodology consisted of four phases, they’re
preliminary phase, field phase, analysis phase and sinthesys phase. Based on
geomorphic consideration the studied area are distinguished into two basic form, the
denudational basic form which is subdivided into eroded hills (D1) and isolated hills
(D2), and the fluvial basic form which is subdivided into alluvial valley (F1), the river
body (F2), flood plain (F3) and point bar (F4). The stratigraphy of the studied area is
subdivided litostratigraphically into four different rock units, from older to youngest
respectively are Satuan batupasir Nanggulan (Middle Eocene – Early Oligocene),
Satuan breksi monomik Kaligesing (Middle Oligocene–Late Oligocene), Satuan
batugamping Jonggrangan (Early Miocene – Middle Miocene), and the last not the least
Satuan endapan alluvial (Holocene). Litodemic andesit Kalisonggo (Late Oligocene)
intrusion unit occured as well. The geological structure of the studied area are consists
of Normal left slip fault (Rickard, 1972) and upright horizontal fold anticline (Fluety,
1964).
Based on petrographic analysis and modal composition plotting on the Nanggulan
sandstones,the paleoclimate of sandstones is in humid climate, with the main source
rock by Plutonic rock (Granite). The tectonic setting of those sandstones are in the
continental block zone, with craton interior and transitional continental sub-zone along
in the recycled orogen zone, with foreland uplift sub-zone.
