Abstract

Kasihan sub-district is one of the suburban zones which there are a lot of land use change of agricultural land, especially in rice fields’function. This study aimed to analyze the spatial reduction of rice fields by knowing the area of rice fields in three different time spans, the factors that affect rice fields’ reduction in Kasihan sub-district and also to determine the level of rice fields’ reduction in Kasihan sub-district. The study was conducted in Kasihan sub-district. This research is descriptive with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The sampling method used is purposive sampling. The types of data needed are primary data and secondary data both qualitative and quantitative. The tools needed in this research are GPS, computers and software (ArcGis, Google Earth, and SAS Planet). The material used the Kasihan Satellite Image Map in 2006, 2010, 2015 and 2019 and also the additional data from several related institutions. The rice field in 2006-2010 has been reduced about 79,68 ha (2,53 %), the period of 2010-2015 was 27,74 ha (0,88%), the 2015-2019 period was 141,74 ha (4, 49%). The land-use change of rice field has been reduced 0.65% per year (20,30 hectares per year). The biggest reduction occurred in Ngestiharjo Village. Therefore, if there was no prevention of rice field land use-change, the rice field in Kasihan sub-district will be vanish in 2050.
