Abstract

The research aimed to test the influenced of self-efficacy to the performance mediated by goal setting. Research done by private university with the sample amount 230 students from seventeen departement and taken as non probability sampling, the student allowed in this research must be minimally have six semester with the cumulative index prestige (IPC) 3,0. The measurement of self efficacy variables used with instrument developed by Phillips and Gully (1997) consist of ten (10) item subject. The variables measurement for goal setting in the form seting for cumulative IPC, and maximally study period until passing examination. The answer of respondent about IPC target when graduate made in the interval scale one as the rate of the lowest IPC while for scale five as the rate for highest IPC. The performance variable measured based on the student capability to reach the IPC target. To test for mediation variable used with multiple regression analysis supported with SPPS program 16,0 for windows. The finding for this research shown that the higher the self-efficacy for every individual would be have increasing performance to individual if mediated by goal setting.
