Abstract

This study aims to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats faced by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Indonesia as an effort to increase productivity and alleviate poverty in Indonesia. The study covers the development of SMEs in Indonesia over the last eight years, through literature and research studies. SWOT analysis consists of internal aspects such as strengths and weaknesses, as well as the external such as opportunities and threats. The study concludes that the development of SMEs is not enough just to distribute Kredit Usaha Rakyat (KUR), but more important is to prepare qualified human resources from the aspects of managerial and Innovation. Hopefully the effort of innovation is to develop the region's natural resources and add value to the product to fit the needs of consumers. Keywords: SMEs Managerial, Innovation, poverty alleviation
