Abstract

throat plugging by suspended particles which contain in the injection water, or rock particles migration and
occurring of scale or certain mineral swelling in the rock pore due to contaminant with water injection. The
test results through water injection candidate shows has Relative Pluging Index (RPI) about 65.55, then the
water injection categories as the poor water for injection fluid and could causing the pore throat plugging in
the reservoir. Test results using quartz sand with 20/40 mesh and 40160 mesh, shows that the quality of
injection water could be increased from Poor to become Good condition. The compatibility test between
water injection and formation water, shows that the form of suspended solid particles occur on the mixing of
25% injection water with 75%formation water, hence the water injection is compatible with formation water
and could be used as injection fluid to these reservoir. Based on Scaling Index (SI) parameter, shows that
injection water has tendency to form CaC03 scale, both for surface and reservoir temperature conditions.
While, for scale of CaSO,, BaSO, and SrSO, there are not formed Furthermore, based on the result of
microbiology analysis, shows that the population of SRB (Sulfate Reducing Bacteria) contains in the water
injection are very small, meaning that there is no effect on the water injection at the surface.
