Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi mendorong bangkitnya industri kreatif berbasis teknologi komunikasi dan informasi, salah satunya adalah game online. Game bergenre battle royale, PlayerUnknown's Battleground (PUBG) memiliki pengguna terbanyak dan semakin digemari. Di Yogyakarta terdapat beberapa komunitas Game salah satunya komunitas game online Anggajaya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi gamers terhadap game online. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori persepsi dan determinisme teknologi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan persepsi gamers terhadap game PUBG memiliki persepsi yang berbeda-beda. Adanya nilai-nilai negatif dalam bermain game PUBG diantaranya adalah kecanduan game online, dapat mempengaruhi aspek sosial dalam menjalani kehidupan sehari-hari, waktu yang terbuang sia-sia dan mengakibatkan informan kurang berinteraksi dengan orang lain dalam dunia nyata. Faktor-faktor pendukung pembentukan persepsi gamers PUBG diantaranya adalah faktor eksternal dan internal individu, faktor fungsional yang membentuk persepsi serta faktor struktural yang membentuk persepsi. Kata kunci : Persepsi, game online PUBG, Komunitas ABSTRACT Technological developments have encouraged the rise of communication-and-information-base creative industries, one of them is game online. The game within genre batlle royale, Player Unknown’s Battleground (PUBG), has the highest number of users and is nowadays being more preferable. In Yogyakarta there are some Game communities and one of them is Anggajaya game online community. Aim of this research is to know the perception of gamers to game online. This research was a qualitative research within descriptive type of research. Theories used in this research were theory of perception and determination in technology. Result of the research shows that perceptions of the gamers to PUBG game are different from one person to another. The PUBG game carries negative values to the gamers such as being addicted to the game online, influencing the social aspects in daily life, wasting and spending time uselessly, and making the informants had little interactions with the other people in their real life. The supporting factors that build the perceptions of PUBG gamers some of them are internal and external factors of the individuals, functional factors that form the perceptions and also structural factors.
