Abstract
ABSTRAK Profesi merupakan bagian dari budaya kehidupan manusia untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dengan menggunakan suatu keahlian tertentu. Sekolah mimpi dari komunitas Saung Mimpi menjadi sarana bagi anak dalam memahami ragam profesi. Penelitian ini berfokus menganalisis konstruksi fantasi profesi menurut interpretasi anak yang di observasi selama proses interaksi dan komunikasi yang terjadi dalam kegiatan sekolah mimpi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme. Observasi partisipan, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi digunakan selama penelitian untuk mengumpulkan data. Analisis tema fantasi sebagai bagian dari teori konvergensi simbolik oleh Ernest Bormann, digunakan untuk menganalisis data. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya dramatisasi pesan oleh pemahaman anak terhadap konstruksi profesi dalam tiga bentuk, terdiri dari: (1) Permainan profesi, dimana anak-anak menempatkan diri sebagai bagian dari kelompok profesi, (2) Pengetahuan profesi sebagai tema identifikasi profesi dengan pengalaman pribadi anak, dan (3) Keutamaan cita-cita anak sesuai dengan slogan komunitas “mari bermimpi dan mewujudkannya!”. Konstruksi fantasi tersebut dapat membantu anak dalam membentuk konsepsi pemahaman interpretif mengenai keputusan realita profesi dalam kehidupannya. Kata kunci : Profesi, Konstruksi Fantasi, Konvergensi Simbolis xvii ABSTRACT Profession is a part of human culture to fulfill the needs by using certain skills. Sekolah mimpi by Saung Mimpi community has become a place for children to understand about various professions. This research focuses on analyzing fantasy construction of profession according to the children intepretation that was observed during interaction and communication process occured in sekolah mimpi. This study uses qualitative method with constructivist approach. Participant observation, indepth interviews and documentation were used during the study to collect the data. Fantasy theme analyisis as a part of Symbolic convergence theory by Ernest Bormann, was used to analyze the data. The research result shows that the message dramatization process in children interpretation towards the profession construction does exist in three forms, consists of: (1) Profession’s play, where the children place themselves as a part of profession’s group, (2) Profession’s knowledge as a theme of profession identification with children’s personal experience, and (3) The virtue of children’s future career in accordance with the community slogan, “Let’s dream and make it happen!”. Those fantasy construction can help children to form a conception of interpretive understanding about the decisions of professions’ reality in their lives.
