Abstract

ABSTRACT Study Of Calculating Geological Time Based On Tomography Method Around East Java-Bali Using Ray Tracing Shooting Method written by : Wika Mirna Sari 115120060 Indonesia is a region of complex geology located on the tip of the Eurasian continent which is bordered by a tectonically active zone characterized by intense seismic and volcanic activity. Seismic activity along the islands of Java and Bali shows the distribution of hypocenter points along the two-plate meeting. The tomographic method may be helpful in determining subduction zones so they can be used for further analysis such as structural as well as tectonic analysis. The relocation method used is geiger method with the P wave data from 1900 to 2013 and the magnitude between 0 and 9 Richter scale from the ISC bulletin International Seismological Center. Raytracing shooting method is used to describe the subsurface state from the result of the relocation calculation. The results of the relocation show the hypocenter point becomes shallower than the results before the relocation. The tomographic result shows a low value of the subduction zone corresponding to the zone of the subduction zone which is a weak zone.Low velocity deviation is also located around of active volcanoes while high velocity deviation is located around the volcano that is no longer active or in areas with compact rocks. The results of tomography can be used to calculate the age of the volcano. There are 6 volcanoes that have been successfully calculated, including: Mount Muria sent 48 million years, Mount Merapi and Mount Lawu received 62 million years, Mount Keludung 67 million years, Gunung Ijen published 33 million years, and Mount Agung there are 24 million years. Keywords: earthquake, subduction, relocation Geiger method, tomography, raytracing shooting, East Java-Bali.
