Abstract

PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (PT. KPC) terletak di Kecamatan Sangatta, Kabupaten Kutai Timur, Provinsi Kalimantan Timur, dan mempunyai PKP2B seluas 90.960 Ha. Didalam operasinya, daerah penambangan Batubara terletak di Sangatta dan Bengalon, Penambangan yg dilakukan PT. KPC hanya di Sangatta yang mempunyai 3 departemen pit besar yaitu departemen Bintang (pit Bendili), departemen Pit J (pit Pinang South), dan departemen Hatari (pit K-West dan pit Inul East). PT. PT. Kaltim Prima Coal (PT. KPC) is located in District Sangatta, East Kutai Regency, East Kalimantan Province and has an area of PKP2B 90,960 Ha. In operation, the coal mining area is located in the Sangatta and Bengalon while PT. KPC mining only operates in Sangatta that has only 3 departments, department bintang (pit Bendili), department Pit J (pit Pinang South), and the department Hatari (K-West pit and pit Inul East). PT. KPC currently have settling ponds are located on north of the mine site. If all the water runoff from catchment area as mentioned above is supplied to the settling ponds, it will not be able to accommodate all debits. Therefore, need to be made settling ponds at the top of the mine openings (upper rangkok). The settling ponds function captures runoff water from the catchment of pit AB, so as not to burden the existing settling ponds function in Rangkok. Besides, the water output from the upper Rangkok can be directly streamed to the river below Rangkok pool. and as a coagulant testing clarific types that will be applied to the settling ponds, it is necessary to plan for a new settling ponds. Based on the analysis of rainfall data obtained rainfall year 2004-2013 plan of 97.82 mm / day, the intensity of rainfall is equal to 33,91 mm / hour with a 3 year return period rainfall and hydrology risk of 86,83%. Catchment on the location of the research showed the extent of 3 km2 and discharge into the settling ponds is 14,14 m3 / sec. From the calculation results obtained technical design for settling pond: Area settling pond = 3.594 m2 and the volume of the settling ponds = 10.782 m³. Based on the results of research on a sample of coagulant type Clarific water does not flow that clarific optimum dose is 0,5 ml.
