Abstract

In an attempt to increase the oil production that continues to decline, a series of stimulation, workover, and recompletion have been done to the wells. It turns out that these attempts were not yielding any significant results. Infill drilling is one of the many ways that can be used to increase or even maintain the production rate of an oilfield. Development planning and optimization of the production on Y field will be focused on formation Udang area G with consideration that the current existing wells that are producing from that formation are not yet optimum to drain all of the reservoir area. With merely 2 active production wells for area G formation Udang, an infill drilling is needed to increase the oil rate production. The Decline Curve Analysis method is used to as a tool of production performance evaluation of area G. A good well planning from a technical and economical perspective is needed to develop formation Udang. Determining the location of an optimum infill well is based on overlay of the structure map, net sand thickness map, water cut map and cumulative production map. Reserves that can be drained by the infill well are calculated using volumetric method based on the difference of the water-oil contact. The results are 0.636 MMBO. The P50 case of this infill well project is feasible due to with an investment of US$ 13.4 MM, it will produce a total NPV project of US$ 28.7 MM, US$ 26.5 for the government and US$ 2.2 MM for the contractor.
