Abstract
Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui dan menjelaskan
pengungkapan diri serta untuk mengetahui alasan yang mendorong terjadinya
pengungkapan diri penumpang kereta api Prameks Solo-Kutoarjo dalam
melakukan komunikasi interpersonal. Teori yang digunakan adalah teori penetrasi
sosial dan teori self disclosure oleh Johari Window. Penelitian ini menggunakan
pendekatan penelitian kualitatif. Subjek dalam penelitian adalah 10 penumpang
yang rutin menggunakan kereta api Prameks sebagai transportasi yang mereka
gunakan, yakni minimal menggunakan kereta api Prameks 3 kali dalam satu
minggu. Tempat penelitian ini dilakukan di Stasiun tempat pemberhentian kereta
api Prameks serta di dalam kereta api Prameks. Metode pengumpulan data dalam
penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Uji
keabsahan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode triangulasi metode yaitu
membandingkan hasil pengamatan peneliti dengan hasil wawancara terhadap
informan. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu model interaktif yang terdiri
dari reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian
terhadap 10 penumpang kereta api Prameks ini menunjukkan bahwa
pengungkapan diri tidak mudah dilakukan. Hal ini karena berbagai macam hal dan
alasan. Pengungkapan diri yang dilakukan hanya sekedar memberikan informasi
mengenai data biografi. Hal yang mendorong penumpang kereta api Prameks
untuk melakukan pengungkapan diri yaitu adanya faktor perasaan menyukai,
kepribadian, topik dan jenis kelamin.

ABSTRACT
This study was conducted with the aim to know and explain the self-disclosure
and to find out the reasons that encourage the self-disclosure of Solo-Kutoarjo
Prameks train passengers in conducting interpersonal communication. The theory
that the researcher implemented was the social penetration theory and the selfdisclosure
theory by Johari Window. In conducting the study, the researcher
applied the qualitative approach and the subjects were 10 passengers who
routinely took the Prameks Train for three times in a week. Then, in gathering the
data the researcher implemented the interview, observation, and documentation
method. For assuring the data validity, the researcher performed the source and
method triangulation method by comparing the results of the information and the
results of the interview. Within the data analysis, the researcher applied the
interactive model data analysis which consisted of data reduction, data display,
and conclusion drawing. The results of this study of 10 Prameks train passengers
show that self-disclosure is not easy to do. This is because of various things and
reasons. The self-disclosure only provides information about biographical data.
The thing that drives Prameks train passengers to do self-disclosure is the feeling
factor of likes, personality, topics and gender
