Abstract
ABSTRACT Indonesia is abundant in geothermal energy due to the fact that it is located on the Ring of Fire in which enrich Indonesia with a total of 40% geothermal energy in the world. However, Indonesia has not been able to develop the use of geothermal energy. Therefore, Indonesia, together with New Zealand as its partner, cooperates to enhance the use of geothermal energy. Indonesia and New Zealand have been partners in various sectors such as economics, education, and energy including geothermal mining. The partnership between Indonesia and New Zealand was once carried out in 1971 by conducting research on Geothermal Power Plant in Kamojang. The research was success since the Geothermal Power Plant runs and generate thermal energy well up to this day. Therefore the Memorandum of Understanding has been agreed by both countries on April 17, 2012 in Jakarta. The partnership strived by both countries are functional cooperation undertaken by PT. PGE and GEONZ.ltd. This thesis aims to discuss the forms of partnership and analyze the implementation of Indonesia and New Zealand partnership on the enhancement of geothermal energy particularly in 2012 until 2016.
