Abstract
Africa is a region that has still problems of poverty, famine and drought that trigger to conflict. Darfur is a part of Sudan, Africa that has the worst humanitarian crisis in the last decade. There are two parties that are Sudan Liberation Movement/Army (SLM/A) that join another armed political group Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and the armed normadic group or Sudanese Government Army (Arab Militia) which called ‘Janjaweed’. The SLA and JEM has similar demands that are to end the political and economic marginalization and to protect their community against Janjaweed’s attack (ethnic cleansing). The warfare between two parties happened in Darfur in early 2003. There are so many victims caused by violation of Janjaweed such as killing, looting and rape. The important key of International Humanitarian Law is giving protection to the civilians in the armed conflict, involved humanitarian crisis and conflict in Darfur. This paper will analyze details about how Darfur conflict in the perspective of International Humanitarian Law and what are the efforts the international community toward Darfur crisis. In conclusion, let me reiterate that peace process and humanitarian access based on the willingness of all the parties especially The Government of Sudan and its military.
