Abstract

This paper will try to elaborate more details about the role of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) as a strategic tool for companies resolving confict in Indonesia. Indonesia was first in the world to state a law regarding CSR performance since 2007. Local community plays a vital role and has big influence from company activities. Here, CSR creates competitive advantages towards internal and external sides that will increase its reputation as well as image. That is used as as a strategy to gain legitimacy from the society to be able to do bussiness and increase development in society. Conflict Resolution and Carroll’s CSR Pyramid (1991) will try to analyze this case. Furthermore, this paper will investigate how companies utilizing CSR in what way they operate in order to fulfil and satisfy different stakeholders. Findings in this paper show that CSR used its strategy in order to solve any conflicts in local community and for development in Indonesia.
