Abstract

Hexane normal isomerisation to become iso pentan is really necessary in the oil refining industry
and petrol-chemical industry. In oil-refining industry, isomerisation process is needed to increase the octane rate.
Without catalyst, isomerisation process is so slow, so it needs catalyst to fasten the reach of reaction balance.
This research use liquid catalyst of AlCl, mixed with HCL in consideration of relatively low cost regeneration compared to solid
catalyst. The research is done incylindrical column of 1.5 cm diameter, 90 cm long .
The column is filled with material contents in raching ring form.
The dimension of material contents is 0,5 cm diameter and 1 cm long.
Reaction operation condition is of 90ºC temperature and 1 atm pressure. Hexane is entered from beneath of reactor contonuously. The result of isomerisation reaction
is analyzed using chromatography gas. The purpose of this research is to detect the column; that is Second Order
Differential Equation Model Conversion comparison based on model and result of experiment shows that Second
Order Differential Equation Model is suitable.
