Abstract

As most printed media business suffering stagnation, why Jawa Pos Groups has it greatly reverse? This surviving had to do with the successful its leaders in anticipating the change within the society. At the time Indonesia experienced shifting from authoritarian with partial democracy and from centralistic to decentralists, strategic environments in society, as consequence, also shifted. Democratization process and the region alautonomy growths provided bigger opportunity for the growth of mass media’s business and industry. Financial sources begin flowing to regions; regional financial revenue had risen and people incomes yet increase. Those were economy growths that sustained regional media industry. Democracy restored were spread on regions along gave risen political parties mushroomed, local figures and local’s expectations lead media informants mushroomed in regions. Based on these situations media has crucial positions among local. Jawa Pos seized these shifting by aggressively penetrating local market. It did not wait, instead it invite and welcome the potential market. It creates its local markets. Establish management that delivered independence for its branch to growth and compete, giving reward, determines production and outcome standardization are part of Jawa Pos’ strategy in leveraging its growth.
