Abstract
The study addresses an underpricing phenomena on initial public offering (IPO) in the period of 1991- 2003 at the Jakarta Stock Exchange (JSX). This research has four main objectives. Firstly to know whether there is underpricing on IPO, secondly to know the long run performance after 180-days having been trading in stock exchange, thirdly to know whether there is overreaction on first trading day, fourthly to know whether there is different underpricing at BUMN firms and non BUMN firms. Based on one sample test it is found there is generally the initial public offering gives positive abnormal return and there is found decreasing return on 180-days trading. That mean, it is can be proved underpricing at firstly trading and decreasing on after market performance. Based on the test or paired sample that found there is not overreacting on firstly trading and there is not difference underpricing at BUMN firms and non BUMN firms.
