Abstract
Many mineral grade estimation techniques have been developed, but they require a complex mathematical understanding. This research introduces a simple estimation method for mineral grade estimation of NNP (nearest neighbor polygon) and IDW (inverse distance weighting) methods. The results showed that the estimated grade of block using NNP is the same as the sample value closest to the block. NNP gives the weight of one for the closest sample and the zero weight for the other samples. While the IDW method gives the sample weight inversely proportional to the distance of the sample against the estimated block. The closest sample gives the greatest weight compared to other samples that are farther away. Both estimators are obtained empirically and are not derived based on probability or statistical concepts. This study shows that NNP and IDW estimators do not produce estimated variance. The empirical estimator does not generate an estimated error
