Abstract
Limbah cair tahu tempe mempunyai karateristik yang mengandung bahan
organik tinggi dan kadar BOD, COD, NH3, dan TSS yang cukup tinggi. Jika langsung
dibuang ke badan air, jelas sekali akan menurunkan kualitas air bersih lingkungan.
Sehingga pabrik tahu dan tempe memerlukan suatu pengolahan limbah yang bertujuan
untuk mengurangi resiko penurunan kualitas air bersih bagi masyarakat yang berasal
dari zat pencemar dari kegiatan pabrik tahu dan tempe. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian
ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh limbah cair yang dihasilkan pabrik tahu dan
tempe terhadap air permukaan dan mengetahui besar kandungan zat pencemar di
dalam air permukaan akibat adanya limbah cair tahu dan tempe.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode survey, uji laboratorium,
analisis, dan indeks pencemaran. Teknik sampling yang digunakan adalah purposive
random sampling dengan 7 titik pengamatan. Titik pengamatan 1 (airtanah),2 (air
permukaan) dan 3(airtanah) merupakan daerah inlet yang belum terkena pengaruh dari
limbah cair pabrik tahu dan tempe, titik 4 (air permukaan) merupakan daerah yang
sangat berdekatan dengan pabrik , titik 5 (airtanah), 6(air permukaan), 7(airtanah)
merupakan daerah outlet setelah pabrik tahu dan tempe. Titik pengamatan ditentukan
berdasarkan arah aliran airtanah. Parameter yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini
adalah pH, BOD, COD,TSS dan Amonia.
Berdasarkan perhitungan status mutu air dengan menggunakan metode indeks
pencemaran, titik pengamatan TP 1 sampai TP 4 dan TP 7 dalam kondisi tercemar baik
dengan nilai PIj 0.324 - 0.970 sedangkan pada TP 5 dan TP 6 termasuk dalam kategori
tercemar ringan dengan nilai PIj yaitu 1.04 dan 2.24.
Kata kunci : pabrik tahu dan tempe, limbah cair tahu dan tempe, kualitas air
permukaan, status mutu air.

TEMPEH TO WATER RIVER IN BANGUNHARJO VILLAGE, SEWON
DISTRICT, BANTUL REGENCY, SPECIAL REGION OF YOGYAKARTA

ABSTRACT
Tofu and Tempeh liquid waste have characteristics that contain organic
material and high levels of BOD, COD, NH3 and TSS are high. If directly discharged
into water bodies, obviously would degrade clean water quality. So the factory of tofu
and tempeh requires a sewage treatment aimed at reducing the risk of a decrease in
water quality for people who come from contaminants of activities tofu and tempeh.
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of liquid waste produced tofu
and tempeh for surface water and determine the content of contaminants in surface
water due to the presence of liquid waste tofu and tempeh.
The method used is a survey method, laboratory testing, analysis, and pollution
index. The sampling technique was used purposive random sampling with 7 location
observation. Location 1 (groundwater), 2 (surface water) and 3 (groundwater) is are
inlet area that has not been affected by mill effluent tofu and tempeh, point 4 (surface
water) is an area that is adjacent to the factory, point 5 (groundwater ), 6 (surface
water), 7 (groundwater) is an area of the factory outlet after tofu and tempeh. The
bservation point is determined by the direction of groundwater flow. The parameters
used in this study were pH, BOD, COD, TSS and Ammonia.
Based on the calculation of the water quality status by using the method
pollution index, the observation point TP 1 to TP 4 and TP 7 in good condition with a
value polluted PIJ 0324-0970 while at TP 5 and TP 6 are included in the category of
lightly polluted with PIJ values are 1:04 and 2:24.
